THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTE FOR TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT GUIDELINE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MANDATORY CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION (MCPE).

AIM OF THE MCPE

There is a present need to upgrade the skills and competence of members as Trainers, to keep abreast of developments in the field, so they will remain current, professional and relevant These series of Training are also to afford opportunities to members to apply for and obtain upgrading on their membership grades and status.

INCENTIVES FOR MEMBERS’ PARTICIPATION

Participation in the MCPE of the Institute will afford members the following privileges and opportunities:
  •  Continuous membership of the Institute
  •  Signing of membership and fellowship forms for other members
  •  Gradual movement to full Fellowship status in the Institute
  •  Appointment to serve on the different Committees of the Institute
  •  Election into the Council of the Institute

OBJECTIVES

Objectives of the NITAD MCPE will include the following:
  •  Improve and sustain members’ existing body of knowledge
  •  - Acquaint members with the recent developments in the field of HCD
  •  Institutionalize professionalism in HCD industry in Nigeria
  •  Update members’ knowledge in the theory and practice of HCD.

ELIGIBILITY

The MCPE is a developmental and skills upgrade scheme for members of NITAD. Therefore, the programme will be available to all members on all membership grades of NITAD as follows:
  • Affiliate
  • Graduate
  • Association
  • Member
  • Fellow

CREDIT REQUIREMENT UNDER MCPE IN A YEAR

Members should attend at least 1 (one) MCPE programme in the year, which guarantees 20 units. The shortfall of 15 units could be made up by attending other programmes of the Institute that will attract credits as follows:
  •  Regular training programmes 10 Units
  •  Annual Conference 15 Units
  •  HCD Forum 10 Units
  •  Induction 5 Units

QUALIFICATIONS FOR UPGRADE:

To qualify for upgrade from one grade to the higher one, applicants must have a combination of the following:
  •  Minimum of HND or B.Sc. (05 Units)
  •  Post graduate qualifications (05 Units)
  •  Participation at Annual Conference (15 Units)
  •  Preparing and delivering Academic/ Professional papers at training programmes (05 Units)
  •  Publication of Articles in professional journals (05 Units)
  •  Participation in branch activities (05 Units)
  •  Participation in Committee Work (05 Units)
DURATION OF MCPE PROGRAMMES
All MCPE programmes shall be for 2 (Two days) only
EXEMPTION
All members above 60 years of age are exempted from MCPE
TRAINING VENUES
The Institute’s trainings shall hold in Lagos and other designated centers within Nigeria
